Superintendent's Message

Welcome to the Gridley Unified School District’s website. As the Superintendent (as of July 2003) I am proud to be part of this community and a school system that provides tremendous learning opportunities. Our professional, dedicated and caring staff always puts student achievement and safety first.

Our programs as described in the District’s website and each individual school’s website are successful because of the support we receive from the parents and community. Please use the links provided to visit each of our school sites to gain greater information about the excellent programs we offer at each location.

The biggest challenges we face in Gridley are also being dealt with in other communities in Butte County. The Gridley Unified School District has been experiencing declining enrollment for the past few years. This decline compounded by the uncertainty of the state budget makes one of our most critical goals, the continued fiscal solvency of the District.

With the projected growth that is anticipated in the next decade, the community and District must begin planning for school facilities to support new students. The District is pursuing funding methods to construct a new school facility on the District owned Randolph site.

Student achievement continues to be a top priority for the Board of Trustees, staff and the community of Gridley. A review of the school accountability report card for each school will give you an outline of the services provided to reach higher student achievement.

The Board of Trustees meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Your attendance and input at these meetings is always welcomed.

Clark S. Redfield
