Sycamore Middle School Character Education

Each month the students and staff at Sycamore work on building a different pillar of character so that we can develop the assets we need to be happy successful adults. Here is what we will be working on this year.

• September - Citizenship

  • School and Family provide clear rules and consequences.

• October - Responsibility

  • A person can resist negative peer pressure and dangerous situations.

• November/December - Caring

  Asset # 26
  • A person places high value on helping other people.

• January - Responsibility

  Asset # 30
  • A person accepts and takes personal responsibility.

• February - Trustworthiness

  Asset # 29
  • A person tells the truth even when it is not easy.

• March - Fairness

  Asset # 36
  • A person seeks to resolve conflict nonviolently.

• April - Responsibility

  • A person is motivated to do well in school.

• May - Respect

  • A person has knowledge of and comfort with people of different cultural/racial/ethnic backgrounds.
