Our Mascot
Woodrow Wilson was the 28th President of the United States. During his second term in office, the United States entered World War I. During the war, there were sheep that grazed on the White House lawn, including an old "tobacco-chewing" ram name Old Ike.
The sheep were there to help with the war effort. They help cut gardening costs and replace gardeners who had been drafted into the war. The wool from the sheep was then donated to the Red Cross to make uniforms for the troops. The sheep also helped publicize the Red Cross effort to increase wool production.
